Dear Torches of Hope,

I often wonder what is it that makes us wake up each morning irrespective of how difficult or challenging the previous day was,

What is it that keeps us going every single day, what ignites the spark within us to not give up and start all over again!

It works wonders for everyone and is not biased for anyone. This magic is HOPE!!

Hope is just like a silver lining in the dark clouds. It is just like a seed that has the unseen power to create a forest that actually seems impossible. Hope is nurtured with the roots of belief and expectation. It is the driving force that keeps the flame of trust burning in the hearts of everyone.

Isn’t it rightly quoted: Flowers grow back even after the harshest winters at the most unexpected places, likewise WE, the greatest creation of the Supreme Creator can also bloom and rise despite of all the impediments.

Hope? What exactly does it mean?

Hope is a feeling or a desire which is accompanied by the expectation that whatever we want in life, will happen, with respect to the events or the circumstances in our life.

It is envisaging a better life than what is now, this motivates us to take the steps in actually creating it.

Hope is an inseparable part of a human mind; everyone hopes for some or the other thing. It acts just like a bridge between the present feeling to the envisioned future.

Why is hope so significant?

1.  Hope helps us to always see the greener side of the grass: Hope reduces stress, reduces anxiety, gives us the strength, and always helps us to look at the positive possibilities lying ahead.

2.  Hope acts as a path-finder: Hope helps us to choose a better path inviting peace and happiness in our lives.

3.  Hope boosts self-confidence: Staying hopeful gives us the confidence to deal with the situation and also drives the trust that Yes! Things will get better and yes! It’s only I/me who can make them better.

4.  Hope is a strong motivator: Some people may say that there is nothing like Hope but if we have a look, we sleep every night with the same confidence and hope that we will wake up the other morning and we may observe a better tomorrow than today. (Though it is not certain) This itself acts as a motivation.

5.  Hope is like a perfume: We might have noticed, that we like the vibes of a few people and dislike the vibes of a few. Hope develops those good vibes and aura around us and it acts like a perfume attracting people to our best aura indirectly aligning them as well with our best aura.

My all-time favorite story of Hope: The Last Leaf by O.Henry

The last leaf is a story that we all might have heard at some point in our lives. Though it is a common one, but it still gives me chills, and strengthens my hope.

The story revolves around two friends Johnsy and Sue who were artists and had together set up a studio. As the days passed by and winter started approaching, Johnsy fell sick with pneumonia. There was a vine outside the window of her hospital room, where she was admitted.

Every day she used to stare and admire the vine and watch the leaves fall. She fell so sick that she started believing that when the last leaf will fall off the vine, even her soul will leave her body and she will die. Mr. Behrman was an old artist who shared the same building where Johnsy and Sue lived. He came to know about the illness of Johnsy and he decided to help.

One night as the storm got fierce, Mr. Behrman painted a leaf on the wall – a leaf that would never fall. It is said that leaf was a masterpiece that Mr. Behrman always wanted to create. Due to the extreme wet and cold storm, Mr. Behrman caught pneumonia and died.

Little did Johnsy know that the leaf was a painted one, she always thought, that if the leaf could survive that ferocious storm and still stand tall, she can absolutely overcome her illness.

This leaf acted as a ray of hope for her, every single day and she recovered from her illness. This story sets a perfect example of hope, sacrifice, and selfless service.

When the days seem hopeless and dull always remember, just like Mr. Behrman there would be someone – the supreme power or our family or our friends or our well-wishers, who would be painting for us and we might not even be aware.

Search out for that ray of hope and smile back to Life. Again..! 😊

Let’s ponder upon how can we become a ray of hope for someone? 😊

Let’s think of the ways, how can we do selfless service and strengthen the hope of others.

Due to our such acts of kindness, maybe someday we will become the cause to save someone’s life.

#Create Hope for yourself and others 😊
